Why we love it

Cabo is the destination we recommend when a couple’s guest list is spread across the whole country. The flight math works from almost anywhere in the U.S., the airport is fast, and the corridor between San José and Cabo San Lucas holds more truly world-class hotels per mile than anywhere else in Mexico.

The landscape does the heavy lifting. A ceremony on a granite point above the Pacific needs almost no décor; we spend the design budget on the dinner instead, where a long table under string lights and a cactus-and-bougainvillea story feel unmistakably Baja.

What to know

The Pacific side is dramatic but mostly unswimmable, so we place welcome parties and beach days on the Sea of Cortez side, where the water is calm. Wind picks up in the afternoons from December through March; we plan ceremony times and floral mechanics around it.

Cabo is the most expensive of our destinations for food and beverage. It’s also the one where a full-buyout villa weekend can actually come in under a resort wedding, so the honest answer to “is Cabo in budget” depends entirely on the venue type.

Signature moments we’ve planned here

• A sunrise blessing on the beach the morning after the wedding, with coffee from a local roaster and mariachi in linen.
• A farewell “taco y tequila” lunch at a working organic farm in the foothills.
• A yacht afternoon on the Sea of Cortez for the wedding party, timed for the whales in February.
